Born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut in 1956, Donald Baechler is known for depicting child-like imagery of straightforward figures and everyday objects, such as skulls, flowers, maps, and ice-cream cones. From 1974-1977, he attended the Maryland Institute College of Art. He then attended Cooper Union from 1977-1978. He returned to New York City in 1980 and jumped right into the Lower Manhattan art scene, displaying works in the Drawing Center and Artists Space. His works can be seen at the Museum of Modern Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
