Amy Sillman was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1955 and attended Manhattan’s School of Visual Arts, graduating in 1979. Her paintings are in many prominent museums, including the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Modern Art. She is known for creating colorful paintings that are psychological, intimate, and full of life and humor. Her works are abstract and have a cubist flare with bold brushstrokes and geometric forms.
