Maxwell MacKenzie

Now living in Washington, DC, but born in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, photographer Max Mackenzie has returned to Minnesota and other mid-western towns to document the decaying and vanishing farm structures that were part of the mid-west landscape a century ago. Mackenzie has published two books on the subject, Abandonings West, a color series and American Ruins, in black and white. He has been awarded several grants, most recently from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Arts and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts.
